Romalice Joseph Brown was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and was educated in Orleans Parish Public Schools. He attended McCarty and Hardin elementary Schools, Lawless Junior High School and Carver and Kennedy Senior High Schools.
He spent four years in the United States Navy as a hospital corpsman. And attended Southern University in New Orleans and Loyola University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Communications.
He has been a sports journalist for 39 years, having worked at WDSU-TV in New Orleans and KPLC-TV in Lake Charles, Louisiana.Mr. Brown was Director of Community and Governmental Relations for the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation and currently works in the University of New Orleans Athletic Department. He is also currently sports director at WBOK-AM in New Orleans and host a weekly sports show called “Sport-A Facts.” In 2012, Mr. Brown was honored by the National Association of Black Journalists with the Sam Lacy Pioneer Award, presented to someone who has made great strides in journalism while making a positive impact in the community.
